Alachua County Students Semifinalist in National Merit Program

A record number of Alachua County Public Schools students have been nominated as semifinalists in the prestigious 2023 National Merit Scholarship Program.

The National Merit Scholarship Corporation recently announced the semifinalists for the program. It includes a record 45 Alachua County Public Schools students, up from the 41 recognized in last year’s program.

“We are very proud that many of our students have been recognised this year,” principal Shane Andrew said in a news release. “This is a tribute to their hard work and commitment to academic achievement, as well as the support of their teachers and families.”

Semifinalists make up less than 1 percent of the nation’s high school students.
