MLB DFS: Top DraftKings and FanDuel Daily Fantasy Baseball Draft, 2022 Labor Day Lineup Suggestions

The San Diego Padres haven’t turned around as quickly as the team had hoped after a series of high-profile roster changes, but they’ve had some success. However, the Padres have lost their last two games and start their home series against Arizona on Monday. The Diamondbacks plan to make pitcher Ryne Nelson his first major league starter, so should you target some Padres stars for your Labor Day MLB DFS lineup?

Nelson is 10-5 this season at Triple-A Reno, but has a 5.43 ERA. Could this be Juan Soto’s chance to turn things around after going just 2 for 19 last week? Arizona State wide receiver Carson Kelly could also be a name worth considering on the MLB DFS roster, as he’s .350 in the last seven games. Before picking up MLB DFS for Monday, be sure to check out MLB DFS advice, strategies, and predictions from SportsLine daily fantasy expert Mike McClure.

McClure’s proprietary projection model, recognized as a top MLB DFS player in the book Fantasy Football (and Baseball) for Smart People: How to Turn Your Hobby into a Fortune, simulates 10,000 per game time, factoring into the account such as matches and recent results. This allows him to find the best value on each site.

On Sunday, McClure highlighted Red Sox shortstop Xander Bogaerts as one of his top players on DraftKings and FanDuel. Results: Bogaerts went 3-for-4 with doubles and two RBIs and had 17 points on DraftKings and 22.2 on FanDuel. Anyone who includes him in their lineup is heading for a lucrative day.

Now, as the 2022 MLB season continues, McClure has locked in his MLB Daily Fantasy Picks for Monday, Sept. 5. Head over to SportsLine now to check them out.

McClure’s top MLB DFS picks for Monday, September 5, 2022

One of McClure’s favorite MLB DFS draft picks on Monday was Angels outfielder Mike Trout, who sold for $5,500 on DraftKings and $4,100 on FanDuel. Trout was the only reason the Angels lost Sunday’s game against Houston when he played in the eighth inning. Trout has missed 40 games this season with a back problem and various other ailments, but he still hit 29 homers with 59 RBIs.

On Monday, the Angels started a new series against the Detroit Tigers, who will start left-hander Tyler Alexander on the mound. Trout was 0-for-3 against Alexander prior to the season, but has an OPS of 0.317 and 1.049 against southpaw starters this season.Alexander has a 6.51 ERA in the 2022 road game while Trout hit 0.325 with 15 homers and 32 RBIs, the Angels will play Monday

Another part of McClure’s MLB DFS strategy involves stacking Trout with Angels outfielder Taylor Ward (DraftKings $3,100, FanDuel $2,900). Ward hasn’t been hit in the past two games, but has played well in the seven games before that. From Aug. 23 to Sept. 2, he hit .370 with 10 hits, one double, one homer and three RBIs.

Ward also went 0-0 against Alexander in the pair’s last meeting, but he was more efficient at home than away and slightly better against lefties than righties. This season, Ward has the lowest strikeout rate of his career (22.4 percent) and the second-highest walk rate (11.3 percent) in his five-year major league career. Ward, who recently finished fifth in the Angels’ lineup, but is primarily a starting hitter, is hitting .364 with a 1.058 OPS against opposing starters against Alexander this season.
